New Bath attraction Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein tells the full story behind the genesis of Shelley’s novel Frankenstein – the tragic events, inquisitive mind and radical scientific, literary and theatrical interests that fermented in the young author’s imagination before her visit to the Villa Diodati in Geneva and her infamous “waking dream” where she conjured up the first fragments of her monster.
Featuring ominous ambient music and unsettling sound-scapes, temperature control, aromas, lighting and special effects, electric shocks, projections, props, unusual artefacts, and vintage items throughout, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein aims to deliver a scarily immersive, unnervingly thrilling and visceral experience which reveals what ultimately inspired this extraordinary young woman to write the world’s first science fiction novel.
Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein runs events through the year, from special talks to Comedy Horror Nights and a special After Dark series for Halloween. Follow this page for their latest news.
