The Isle of Wight Festival, one of the most iconic events in the UK’s festival calendar, kicked off at Seaclose Park today and the Hard Rock Stage drew festivalgoers in as it opened for a sixth consecutive year. The stage delivered exhilarating sets from some of music’s most exciting rising stars. Joe Slater, Vambo and Katy Hurtwere just some of the acts getting crowds amped up for a weekend of rockin’ music.
Elephant Trees kicked off proceedings channelling high energy, officially opening the Hard Rock Stage for 2019. They were introduced on stage by Hard Rock’s host for the weekend, Sarah Handy, Senior Sales & Marketing Manager for London & Piccadilly Circus, the new cafe opening soon. Next up was Katy Hurt, singing her number one iTunes Country Chart song “Love You More”.
Joe Slater followed next delivering a smooth, saturating blend of rock, blues and soul way beyond his 23 years.
Ensuring the crowd was kept thoroughly entertained, Vambo brought classic rock and roll. They rocked IOW and got everyone on their feet. The crowd went wild.
Sinplus took to the stage as the day draws to a close. This alternative pop duo kept crowds bouncing ahead of Friday night headliners Bush & Richie, who finished the night off with their first-ever mix of 80s v 90s bangers battle. A fantastic finish to an amazing first day.
Music has always been at the very heart of Hard Rock, an institution which continues to support breakthrough acts, providing the Hard Rock Stage at Isle of Wight Festival as the perfect platform to get new music out there to thousands of festivalgoers. The music continues tomorrow through until Sunday night.
