Tower Bridge Achieves Record-Breaking Summer Visitor Figures

London, Tower Bridge, London’s defining landmark, announces its blockbuster summer 2023 visitor numbers, the highest on record.

The summer of 2023 witnessed a surge in visitor numbers to Tower Bridge, with August leading the way with an astounding 113,842 visitors to the Bridge from around the world — an equivalent of 3,672 visitors per day. This represents a substantial increase of 32.67% year-over-year (YOY), demonstrating Tower Bridge as a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.

The Bridge bucked wider industry trends that saw an August dip as people escaped to the coast over the summer months according to the latest tourism insights from London & Partners.

To date, three months in 2023 have seen visitor numbers exceeding 100,000 visitors, which has only happened a total of five times in the Bridge’s visitor history, exceeding even pre-COVID numbers. The subsequent uplift in visitor spend was also a welcome boon, income generated at Tower Bridge goes towards City Bridge Foundation's charitable work across London, which includes maintaining our bridges and supporting London’s communities.

Chris Earlie, Director of Tower Bridge, says:

“2023 has been an epic year. We have been so pleased to welcome a record number of people to Tower Bridge from our closest neighbours to visitors from around the world. Our excellent visitor experience offer taking people inside the Bridge and over the famous Glass Walkways, the new programme of family activities and special tours, combined with our competitive pricing and compelling location, means we can offer the very best of London’s history and a great day out accessible to all.”

Another driving factor contributing to this success is Tower Bridge's commitment to community engagement. The introduction of the £1 Community Ticket for residents who live in the neighbouring Tower Hamlets and Southwark boroughs has seen a notable uptick in adoption this year, seeing a 57% increase in 2023 from the previous year, continuing to make the iconic landmark more accessible to its surrounding communities.
