Chelsea Waterfront
Delivered by Hutchison Property Group, the UK division of CK Asset Holdings Limited, Powerhouse is the latest phase of the Chelsea Waterfront development, a collection of high-end apartments set across 10 buildings.
Powerhouse, London’s oldest historic power station, now transformed into 260 luxury homes. Two new show apartments designed by award-winning Morpheus & Co, celebrate the building’s rich history and distinctive architecture in Chelsea Harbour.
Powerhouse is the latest phase of the development, a former brownfield site along the Thames into an upscale urban living space. Originally built to power the London Underground, the apartments’ interiors reflect this legacy, blending industrial heritage with high-end modern elegance.
Highlights of the development include on the fifth floor, Morpheus & Co designed a 1,765 sq. ft. four-bedroom apartment featuring panoramic Thames views. The apartment combines art deco influences, geometric motifs, and neutral tones, creating a timeless atmosphere. Highlights include a 178 sq. ft. terrace, a tranquil principal bedroom, and bespoke furniture from renowned designers like Patricia Urquiola, capturing the essence of riverside living.
The second apartment, spanning 1,300 sq. ft., offers three bedrooms and overlooks Lots Road, famous for antiques and art. This space seamlessly blends historical references with modern touches, using bold colours and eclectic patterns to create a luxurious, visually engaging environment. Bespoke pieces, such as a copper-detailed living room mirror by local artisans, honour the building’s industrial roots.
Completed in 1905, Powerhouse was once the largest power station of its time, and its recent redevelopment marks a landmark transformation for the borough. The new apartments are centred around a vast 100-meter atrium, the former home of the station's turbines. This space seamlessly integrates revitalised original steelwork with thoughtfully placed trees, creating an intimate, 'mews-style' atmosphere. The atrium is designed to be a lively centre of activity, featuring retail spaces, restaurants, and leisure areas, preserving Powerhouse’s historical connection to public service. The atrium entrances will be located at the base of the two 275-meter chimneys, which will be restored to their historic grandeur.
Residents of Chelsea Waterfront, will have exclusive access to a 400-meter stretch of Thames waterfront, open to the public for the first time in a century. This area, with gardens designed by acclaimed landscape architect Randle Siddeley, offers stunning views of the Thames. Powerhouse also boasts a range of state-of-the-art amenities, including a concierge service, a wellness centre with a fully equipped gym, and a 20-meter swimming pool, ensuring a luxurious living experience.
